EASY-TO-USE-DIRECTIONS
TREES:
Apply at a rate of 0.5 Kg per 2.5 cm (1 lb. per 1 in.) of
diameter of the tree's trunk. Feeder roots of a large tree
tend to be far from the trunk, roughly at the tree's drip
line - under the broadest spread of the tree's branches.
Make holes in the ground around the drip line, then add
seaweed meal to the holes, or apply generously to the soil
under the tree's foliage.
VEGETABLES, FLOWERS, FRUIT, LAWNS:
0.5 kg per 10 square metres (1 lb. per 100 square feet)
mixed into soil spring and fall.
BULBS:
1 Tbsp. of seaweed meal per bulb mixed into soil at time
of planting.
HOUSEPLANTS:
1 Tbsp. for a 6-inch pot (not per 6-inch of diameter) mixed
into potting soil before potting, or worked into soil of
already-potted plants. Please note that a 12-inch pot contains
more than twice as much soil as a 6-inch pot, and would
easily take 3 to 4 tablespoons.
FOR EXPERIENCED GARDENERS:
In spite of the above application rates (twice a year is
a good idea), any amount will benefit soil and plants, and
two to three times the recommended rates is neither excessive
nor harmful.
Depending on how depleted your soil is, and how fast you
want to fix it, there is a great deal of flexibility in
how much you use, bearing in mind that excessive amounts
of anything is not a good idea. In research and in commerce,
plants can be "stalled" (to retard blooming, for
example), by planting them in straight seaweed meal.
